Expanded description
Raindrops make their way into the Napa Valley and join the creeks and streams running to the Napa River, they become sweet water that runs into the bay and mixes with salt; out with the tide, under the Golden Gate Bridge, they join the cacophony of waves and upwells in the ocean and then evaporate back into fog that slips inland, over the valleys. In her novel Rivers in the Sky, Elif Shafek wrote, "Water remembers. It is humans who forget.”
